Grandfather gives Rifle to Grandson as momento of his first successful Deer hunt
December 30, 2007
Not only did this youngster tag a 8 point buck his first time out but he also was given the rifle that helped him do it. The story is very memorable for sure not only for him but his father and grandfather.
Teen with Elmira roots bags 8-point buck in first hunting trip

Daniel D. Burlew, left, his dad, Daryl, center, and Daryl’s dad, Danny, each shot bucks.
I always enjoy hearing stories of someone’s first deer (or first turkey or first pheasant, etc.) It’s especially encouraging to see young people taking up the sport, so the story of 16-year-old Daniel D. Burlew caught my eye. The circumstances of his hunt make the story even more intriguing.
Burlew lives in Middleburg, Pa., but he grew up in the Elmira area, and when he was only 10, his dad, Daryl, bought him a lifetime New York sportsman’s license.
This fall, Daniel and Daryl returned to New York, where grandparents Danny and Hazel Burlew still live, so Daniel could hunt deer for the first time.
Hunting near his grandparents’ home in North Chemung, and using a .243-caliber rifle he borrowed from his grandfather –which he had never shot before — Daniel bagged an 8-point buck his first time out.
Making the occasion even more special was that both Dad and Grandpa tagged 10-pointers.
Obviously, hunting skills run in the family.
To top it all off, Danny Burlew gave the rifle to his grandson so he would always have a memento of his first deer hunt.

After a little internet searching, reading, and checking up on this stuff I found its a pretty well established product in Canada and hails from Quebec where they have this funny habit of speaking a lot of French. Thus the name, Jig-A-Loo, and the companys claim it derives from a saying they have up north, Ive got it!
